UK crypto tax specialists
Crypto Tax Advisor UK
A specialist crypto tax advisor does the work a general accountant cannot: reconstructing an incomplete on-chain history and defending the treatment that follows from it.
- HMRC Cryptoasset Manual applied line by line
- Timestamped pricing feeds for every valuation
- Pooling and the 30-day rule handled correctly
A crypto tax advisor is a UK tax specialist who works specifically on digital assets: reconstructing transaction histories that no longer export cleanly, applying HMRC's pooling rules across years of activity, deciding where the income and capital line falls in DeFi, and defending those positions if HMRC asks. It is a different job from filing a self-assessment return with a spreadsheet attached.
What a specialist does that a general accountant does not
- Rebuilds history from on-chain data where exchange exports are incomplete, missing, or from a venue that has since collapsed.
- Applies Section 104 pooling correctly alongside the same-day and 30-day rules, across every year and every wallet, rather than per exchange.
- Takes and documents a position on DeFi treatment, where HMRC guidance sets out principles rather than answers: lending, liquidity provision, wrapped tokens, staking rewards, airdrops and forks.
- Distinguishes trading from investment on the badges of trade, which changes the rate, the loss relief and the National Insurance position entirely.
- Handles HMRC correspondence, nudge letters, disclosures and enquiries as a matter of routine.
How we work
An initial call establishes the shape of the position: portfolio scale, years involved, venues, activity types and whether HMRC has already made contact. From there we scope the reconstruction, agree a fixed fee, produce the computations, and either file or disclose depending on what the numbers show. Where the answer is that no further action is needed, we say so.
Who we act for
Long-term holders with substantial positions, active traders, DeFi and Web3 participants, founders and contributors paid in tokens, funds and family offices, and anyone holding an HMRC letter about cryptoassets. We are not the right fit for a first-year holder with a single exchange account and a few hundred pounds of gains, and we would rather point that person at the right resource than take the engagement.
